Beige Amour

I play Vlad, a 400-year-old vampire who loves beige, routine and model kits in the romantic comedy Beige Amour. Behind the scenes, makeup and a few very beige surprises.

Co-directed by Gabriel Bissonnette and Catherine Naud, Beige Amour sets out to shake some dust off the romantic-comedy formula by mixing the supernatural with a love story that does not take itself too seriously. The film plays with the familiar codes of romance and fantasy while trying to surprise the audience along the way.

I become a very beige — and hopefully very funny — vampire

In this film, produced by the wonderful team at Fusion Film, I had the enormous pleasure of playing Vlad. Gabriel Bissonnette and Catherine Naud co-directed the project, and it was a joy to work with them to bring this extremely endearing — and extremely beige — vampire to life. Vlad is full of surprises, and I hope audiences have as much fun meeting him as I had playing him.

There was something delicious about playing a vampire who is not exactly built from the usual mythology of black capes, gothic castles and brooding immortality. Vlad is supernatural, yes, but also profoundly human — or at least vampirically human. Putting that contradiction inside a romantic comedy gave me a lot to play with.

I am looking forward to people discovering the film and the transformation required for the role. The makeup alone gave Vlad quite a look.

If you enjoy romantic comedies that wander off the beaten path, with a touch of fantasy and a healthy dose of absurdity, keep an eye out for this one. I am very happy to have been part of the strange little love story this passionate team built together.

There are always surprises on a shoot…

When we arrived at the second location on our first shooting day, huge snowflakes suddenly started swirling around us. Fortunately, a few minutes later it was over. We came very close to having Vlad attempt to join the gang from Dents Nocturnes in the middle of a snowstorm. Which, somehow, would probably have made the whole thing even more beige.

BEIGE AMOUR (Synopsis)
Vampire romantic comedy

Vlad, a 400-year-old vampire devoted to beige, routine and model kits, sees his world collapse when Julie, his lively partner, leaves him for a younger, wilder vampire. Devastated, Vlad tries to breathe new life into eternity: reinvention, existential crises, leather that is much too tight and one awkward situation after another. With the help of a caring mother, an improbable game of Scrabble and an unexpected encounter, he may discover that you can still sink your teeth into life — even at his age.
